Navaratri is a muti-day Hindu festival celebrated in the autumn.
For those of you who follow the hindu festivals, you will know that October 24th was Vijay Dashami Day, or the day of the Divine Mother, the 10th day of Navaratri.
Since ancient times, during Navaratri, Indians have invoked the energy aspect of God in the form of the universal mother, commonly referred to as Durga, which literally means the remover of miseries in life.
She is also referred to as Devi (goddess).
The dates for Navaratri are determined by the lunar calendar.
Vijayadasami or October 24th this year, is considered the most auspicious day of the year to start anything new. In India.
Astrologers are often consulted in order to find an auspicious date for starting a new business, holding a wedding or beginning any type of new project.
In the autumn, this may well coincide with Vijayadasami.
This is also the wonderful time when tantriks believe the cosmic forces are best aligned to practice deep spiritual practices and gain the greatest merit from them…….it is also the time of the dandiya raas that lovely celebration from gujurat where devis dress up gorgeously and dance in gay abandon to the goddess.
